She welcomes questions about both diagnosis and medication, including uncertainty about whether either is the right explanation or next step. Her women’s mental health focus complements her broader work with adolescents and adults navigating challenges at school, at work, in relationships, and during life transitions.

Sheena’s services may be a good fit for:

  • Adolescents ages 12+ and adults seeking psychiatric evaluation or diagnostic clarification.
  • People experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, or trauma-related symptoms that affect daily life.
  • People seeking assessment for ADHD or help understanding concerns about attention and organization.
  • Women navigating PMDD, perimenopause-related mood concerns, or questions about previously overlooked ADHD.
  • People seeking a collaborative review of their medication plan and how it is working.

How These Struggles Often Show Up

Sometimes the hardest part of seeking help is explaining what has changed. You may be keeping up with your responsibilities while finding that everything takes more effort than it used to. Other people may see someone who is managing, while you feel increasingly overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted.

You might notice:

  • Worry that is difficult to set aside or panic that interrupts your day.
  • Low mood or difficulty feeling interested and engaged in things that matter to you.
  • Problems with concentration, organization, or following through on responsibilities.
  • Trauma-related symptoms that affect your sense of safety, relationships, or daily functioning.
  • Mood concerns that seem connected to your menstrual cycle or the transition toward menopause.
  • Uncertainty about whether your medication is helping or whether side effects are creating new difficulties.

You do not need to have a clear explanation before seeking care. What you have noticed, when it happens, and how it affects your life are useful starting points for an evaluation.

What Psychiatric Care With Sheena Is Like

Sheena’s approach centers on thoughtful assessment and shared decision-making. An evaluation provides space to discuss your symptoms, relevant health history, previous treatment experiences, and goals. Questions, mixed feelings about medication, and uncertainty about how to describe your experience are welcome parts of that conversation.

Her broader medical background informs how she considers mental health concerns within the context of a person’s overall health and daily life. Psychiatric care involves exploring possible explanations for symptoms, providing diagnostic clarification when appropriate, and considering treatment options. An evaluation does not commit you to taking medication or guarantee a particular prescription.

When medication is appropriate, Sheena discusses its purpose, potential benefits, possible side effects, and follow-up needs. Progress includes both changes in symptoms and whether treatment is making a meaningful difference in your relationships, responsibilities, school, work, and everyday wellbeing.

Clinical Approach

Sheena’s approach emphasizes making sure each medication serves a clear purpose. She regularly reviews how the plan is working and looks for opportunities to simplify it when clinically appropriate, with changes made collaboratively and carefully.

When appropriate and authorized, Sheena can coordinate with your therapist and other healthcare providers. That collaboration helps the different parts of your care inform one another while preserving the distinct roles of psychotherapy and medication management.

Sheena’s Approach to Women’s Mental Health

Women’s mental health is an especially meaningful area of interest for Sheena. She is passionate about supporting women seeking help for premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), mood concerns during perimenopause, and questions about attention and executive functioning that may not have received adequate attention earlier in life.

She has a particular heart for women who describe years of overcompensating. They may have relied on extensive preparation, rigid routines, extra hours, or considerable private effort to manage responsibilities. Others may see someone who is capable and dependable without recognizing how much work it takes to keep everything moving.

Some women seek help during perimenopause because familiar ways of managing no longer feel sufficient. They may wonder whether ADHD was overlooked or whether a previous diagnosis fully explains their experience. Sheena’s interest is in exploring those questions carefully, without assuming that every change in attention or mood has the same explanation.

Her focus is on psychiatric assessment and treatment of mental health concerns within this stage of life. The patterns you notice, your health history, and the questions you bring help inform the conversation and whether coordination with other healthcare providers would be useful.

Training & Professional Background
