Who Faith Works With

Faith works with teens, young adults, and adults, with a particular passion for young people who have experienced trauma, foster care, instability, difficult transitions, or system involvement.

Her work can be especially meaningful for:

  • current or former foster youth
  • young people aging out of care
  • those affected by child-welfare involvement
  • people whose lives have included housing instability, crisis, or repeated transitions
  • clients working through trauma responses and challenges with trust and coping

She feels especially connected to teens who have been labeled “difficult,” “defiant,” or the “problem child.” Faith knows they are not simply “hard kids.” Their behavior is communicating something. There may be fear underneath the anger, overwhelm underneath the shutdown, or a need for safety underneath the push to handle everything alone.

How These Struggles Can Show Up

The people Faith works with may not always look like they are struggling in an obvious way.  Clients may find themselves:

  • pushing people away while privately wondering whether anyone will stay
  • appearing fiercely independent because relying on others has not always felt safe
  • struggling to ask for help or trust adults
  • having a hard time managing intense emotions
  • finding it hard to imagine a future that looks different from their past
  • grieving what they thought life would look like while trying to move forward

With Faith, progress can often show up in small ways. It might simply look like asking for support instead of disappearing, or saying something calmly that used to come out as anger.

What Therapy With Faith Is Like

Faith listens first. Clients have room to talk, think, and figure things out without being rushed.

Faith also believes in what she calls “tough love.” She is honest and direct when it helps, but always respectful. She holds clients accountable without judging them.

Her message to clients is simple: you are doing the work. Faith offers a safe space, a different perspective, and practical tools. The process belongs to the client.

One phrase Faith often uses is “Two things can be true at once.” You can be happy and sad at the same time. You can understand why a coping habit started and still decide it no longer works for the life you want.

Clinical Approach

Faith adapts her approach to the person in front of her rather than expecting every client to fit one therapy model. Faith draws from:

  • Person-Centered Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • DBT-informed strategies
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Trauma-informed and strengths-based care

Her High Fidelity Wraparound training shapes how she sees each client. As Faith puts it, “We have to treat everything, not just one thing.” That means paying attention to relationships, safety, housing, support, and everyday stress, not only symptoms.

When clinically appropriate, she also helps clients identify when additional care or a higher level of support may be needed.

Beyond the Clinical: Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk and talk therapy is an outdoor counseling session where you and your clinician walk side by side on a pre-planned route. Moving and walking side by side, instead of sitting face to face, can make it easier to open up, particularly for clients managing trauma, anxiety, or avoidance.

For Faith, the moments that matter most are often small ones. She says what reminds her why she does this work is seeing a client take a deep breath and finally release. Walk and talk gives clients room for that kind of moment, away from the office.

Faith offers two formats:

Lived Experience That Informs Faith’s Work

Faith has openly shared that she experienced foster care, homelessness, trauma, and instability growing up. She also knows personally what it is like to be labeled the “problem child.”

That history helps her recognize what a person may be going through beneath the surface. Her clients tell her she has described their experience perfectly. Often, she doesn’t need to say much for someone to feel understood.

Faith’s lived experience informs her work, but it does not replace her clinical training. Her clients’ stories remain their own.

Training & Professional Background

Faith’s four years of professional experience in crisis response, child welfare, and work with foster youth are deepened by her own history.

She began her career as a certified peer support specialist on a mobile response team, providing crisis de-escalation alongside local law enforcement. During that time, she shadowed the team’s therapist for two and a half years. She later moved into care coordination, prevention, and child welfare. Her graduate internship focused on work with foster youth, and her experience also includes advocacy and community-based work.

A Note From Faith

You’re not alone. I’m here to walk with you, however fast or however slow you need to go. My goal is to give you a safe space where you can be heard, without having to have everything figured out first. Your past deserves to be understood, but it doesn’t have to decide the rest of your story. We are not our past. We can keep growing, and you can create a life you love.
